Catherine Battle Obituary
AGE: 74 • Metuchen
Catherine Battle of Metuchen passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 74 years old. Born in Nashville, North Carolina; She resided in Iselin for 8 years before moving to Metuchen in 1999.
Mrs. Battle was employed as the Head Custodian at Indiana Avenue School #18 in Iselin for 20 years retiring in 2010; and as a Sales Associate with J.C. Penny's Department Store in Woodbridge for 22 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Jasper Peter Battle who died in 1989; her parents Sonny and Vera Perry Wood; and a brother Sonnie Wood, Jr. She is survived by a daughter Rosa Battle of Metuchen; 3 sons Gary Battle and his wife Tanya of Edison, Syid Battle of Perth Amboy, and Reginald Battle of Trenton; 5 grandchildren Salimah Brown, Antione Battle, Tyus Battle, Khalif Battle, and GIGI Gibbons; 2 great-grandchildren Isiah Noguera and Jeramiah Ruiz; a sister Christine W. Creighton; 3 nephews Gary Richardson, Antonio Creighton; 1 great nephew Alonzo Creighton, Jr., 2 nieces Paulette M. Creighton, and Crystal Richardson.
Catherine loved sports and was very fond of basketball. Especially, since her sons and grandsons played. Her favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. But most of all she loved her children!!!
A memorial visitation will take place Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.Cos tello-greiner.com) 44 Green Street at Barron Ave., Woodbridge.

Dear Gary and family,
May you find piece in knowing that your mother is at rest and safe in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved life and lived it . She will never be forgotten , she was a big sister to me and my sisters Cookie, Sandy, Hazel, and Chrystal. Dear Rosa and family,
It broke my heart the other day when I asked how you were and you told me "Not that good, Mommy died last week." I told you I'd pray for you and I meant it. That is so hard to deal with but I know you will think happy thoughts of her and make it through the tough times, knowing that one day you will all be together again up there in Heaven. Smile. Be strong and support each other through this. Your Mom would love knowing that you're all sticking together for her sake. My family and I are doing that since the loss of my Dad and it really helps. Keep her memory alive by doing things with her always in mind.

To the family of Cathy,
I worked with her at school 18 for 10 years. She was a tough cookie but I liked and respected her. I could not make it tonight and I am deeply sorry because she deserved my presence in saying farewell to a good person.May she find peace in God and may God bring condolences to you all.

Dear Cathie Battle Family,
We are so sorry for the lost of your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt. She was a great lady, who always had a smile on her face. She made my day, when she had her bags packed for AC and then shopping for her grandkids. She will be miss on Rose St in Metuchen.
