Daniel James Sweeney

AGE: 68 • formerly of Deal

4/30/47 - 10/19/15

Daniel James Sweeney, of Pass Christian, Miss, formerly of Deal, NJ, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015. Dan was born April 30, 1947 in Long Branch, NJ to Eileen Sullivan Sweeney & James T. Sweeney. Early years spent in Oakhurst - going to the beach in summer and playing in the woods in winter. A graduate of Oakhurst Grammar School & Asbury Park High School, Class of 1966. After graduating Asbury, he went to Silvermine Art School in Conn. He exhibited his art work in the USA & Canada.

He & his best & loyal friend, Skip Hildebrand together had business ventures - Belmar Cinema Transdimensions (Hologram Company), S & H Auction Co., Walnut Street Gallery (Art Gallery). He was a licensed auctioneer graduating from Mendenhall Auction School in 1990. He also went to ice skating school in Hershey, Pa., which led to competition in shows & winning skating medals. He was also a graduate of Atlantic City Chef School.

He was an exempt member of Deal Fire Co. #2, captain of Deal First Aid & Deal Fire Police Captain. His last years were spent in Mississippi & Louisiana printing, drawing art at Walnut Gallery & enjoying the "Redneck Riviera" in MS.

He is survived by a cousins, Peggy Dunne of Deal, NJ, & Eileen, Billy, John & Dan McEntee.

As Dan wished, he was cremated & wants his ashes spread in the Amish country in PA.

I knew him forever, and while he was often out of sight, he was always in my heart and mind. He was blessed with brilliant mind, wild imagination, artistic talent and a you'll never forget him persona. With all that, he made friends for life with Skip leading the way in always being there for him. Loved his Mom and Dad too. RIP remembered forever!
