DAVID E. TUTRONE, JR.
AGE: 63 PARLIN
David E. Tutrone, Jr., 63, of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, in the loving arms of his family. Born in Manhattan, he resided in New York City until he moved to Parlin in 1978. Since 1985, he worked in Metuchen as Vice President of Human Resources for Franco Manufacturing Company. Previously, CBS, Inc., employed him as Manager of Operations Training, Director of Employee Relations, and Director of Human Resources for Steinway & Sons. David also served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. In 1996, David became a member of the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce, where he served as the Secretary and Vice President before becoming Chamber President in 2000. The Chamber awarded David the Chamber Distinguished Service Award in 2008. In 2002, David had a calling, decided to expand his service to the community, and was accepted into the Diocese of Metuchen's diaconate formation program. After completing his training and education in theological studies, David was ordained a Deacon in June, 2007, and served as a parish deacon at St. Bernadette's R.C. Church in Parlin as well as Assistant Director of Formation for the next class of deacons to be ordained in 2012. David also was a proud member of the Holy Name Society and St. Bernadette's Knights of Columbus. In his private life, he was proud of being a pilot and twice completing the N.Y.C. Marathon. Further, David was an avid artist, photographer, and musician. He curated an extensive hot pepper sauce collection of which he would always keep an emergency supply at the ready.
David is predeceased by his parents, David and Fannie Tutrone. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, the former Raffaelina Tornetti; his sons, Jason Tutrone of Pittsburgh and David Tutrone of Manhattan; his daughter, Elizabeth Tutrone of Hoboken and her fiance Jonathan Conte of Manhattan, and his brother, Charles Tutrone and his wife Carol of Coram, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bernadette's Church in Parlin on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum in South Brunswick. Calling hours will be held at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, on Tuesday from 7 p.m to 9 p.m. David will also lie in state at St. Bernadette's Church in Parlin on Wednesday from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. Members of St. Bernadette's Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus will hold services on Wednesday at St. Bernadette's.

To the Tutrone Family,

I am so sorry to hear the news of Dave's passing. In all my years of work at Franco, Dave always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to talk to. He was very proud of his family.
I worked in the Art Dept., and Dave used to show me the drawings he had done as a hobby. I am so sorry for your loss.
Deepest sympathy,
Kathleen Szatmary
