DIANNE METZGER LEDWITH
AGE: 55 SHREWSBURY
Dianne Metzger Ledwith, 55, of Shrewsbury, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Calvary Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer. Dianne graduated from Simons Rock in Great Barrington, Mass. and Columbia University and earned a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in New York City. Animals were very important to Dianne, especially the cat population. She worked with several ASPCA groups to rescue the feral cats.
She was predeceased by her father, Samuel Metzger, in June 1980. She is survived by her husband, Henry Ledwith of New York City; her mother, Jeanne Metzger of Shrewsbury; her brother, Steven Metzger and his wife Jane Metzger of Providence, R.I.; her brother, Gary Metzger of Red Bank; her brother, Kurt Metzger and his wife Gillian of Singapore; and her brother, Scott Metzger and his wife Paige Metzger of Little Silver. She also leaves three nieces, Julia Metzger of Providence, R.I., Meredith Metzger Bush of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Cady Metzger of Little Silver. She leaves a nephew, Christian Metzger also of Little Silver.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dianne Metzger Ledwith will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at The Thorn Brooke Clubhouse Thorn Brooke Drive, Shrewsbury. The service will be followed by a light lunch at Thorn Brooke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Monmouth County ASPCA in the memory of Dianne Metzger Ledwith. My heart and prayers are with you as you celebrate Dianne's life today. Many fond memories of times spent with her as kids. Can't help but smile thinking of home movies of us heading to the beach in our first bikinis, and always being so jealous of her fabulous strawberry blonde hair.
