Elizabeth Leshko Obituary

Elizabeth Leshko

AGE: 74 • Carteret

Elizabeth Ann Leshko (nee Pischetola), 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23rd. Elizabeth grew up in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. and lived most of her life in Carteret, N.J. before moving to Somerset, N.J. She was a devout Catholic and was dedicated to the rosary. She adored children and volunteered at the New York Foundling Hospital early in her life. She was a passionate cook and took great joy in creating feasts for her family and friends, particularly during holidays. She volunteered as a cook for numerous fundraising events for her parish, St. Elias Church in Carteret, N.J. and for other community groups. She spent a summer cooking for over 100 cyclists crossing the country to raise funds to end world hunger. She enjoyed decorating her home, gardening, and craft making. But, she derived her greatest enjoyment and sense of purpose from her family. At gatherings, she loved to kick off her high-heels and spend the night dancing.

Elizabeth was predeceased by parents, Vito and Rose Pischetola, and her sister Charlotte Denton. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 43 years, George Leshko; her daughters, Maria "Mia" Gabellino Sena and Isabell Leshko; her son-in-laws, Ralph Sena and Matt Kleiderman; her granddaughter Francesca Sena; her brother, Savario "Bunny" Pischetola; her aunt, Clara Brown, and her devoted cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and loved ones are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, June 26th from 5 to 8 pm at the Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave., Carteret, N.J. Parastas Service will be at 7 PM on Wednesday. The Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home. The Divine Liturgy will be at 10 AM at St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church in Carteret, with entombment to follow at St. James Mausoleum in Woodbridge. Our hearts are broken at the loss of our beloved cousin Liz. She put up a good fight battling Alzheimer. We will always remember the fun and laughs we all shared together. She was fun with a twinkle in her eyes and a bounce in her step. We loved her and wish peace to George, the love of her life, her daughters, their spouses, and her granddaughter Francesca. She will always be in our hearts.
