Franklin Dentz Obituary

Franklin Everett Dentz

Carrollton, TX - Franklin Everett Dentz, 96, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at his daughter's home in Carrollton TX. Born in Plainfield NJ to the late Robert and Harriet Dentz, he grew up in Middlesex NJ. He graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1943. During WWII he served with the 82nd and 17th Airborne divisions including the Battle of the Bulge. His double-tow glider ride in Operation Varsity left an indelible impression on him. In June of 1950, Franklin graduated from Columbia University and married Arlyne Johnson. He worked for Research-Cottrell in NJ. He and Arlyne raised their family in Somerville NJ before spending 20 years in Sanibel FL. During the last few years of his life, Franklin was able to spend time with family living in New Jersey and Texas for extended periods of time.

Cherished memories include stories from their lives he and Arlyne would share, seeing him at work in the yard and on household projects, his great sense of humor, collecting seashells, and spending quality time with family and friends. His photos and woodworking projects remind us of his creative abilities. He and Arlyne served the Lord Jesus Christ in many ways over the years. They enjoyed traveling throughout their married life. Their greatest joy was pouring into the lives of their children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Arlyne, his brothers, Robert and John Dentz, and son-in-law Michael Osinski.

Franklin is survived by his daughters, Kathy Keith (Dean) and Connie Osinski, grandchildren, Kelly Montgomery (Chris), Rebecca Hortenstine (Chad), Jamie Case (Chris), and Geoffrey and Stephen Osinski, and great-grandson Elijah Hortenstine.

A memorial will be arranged in the future.

We have wonderful memories from childhood of fun family time spent with Franklin and Arlyne. As adults, we were blessed to visit them in Somerville and Sanibel and the testimony of their faith and walk with the Lord was always a great blessing to us. His love for his girls and grandchildren was evident and he was very close to my mother, his cousin Janet, until her death in 1999. Franklin’s humor and help to me with the family genealogy was invaluable and he pursued tracing our roots with a great passion. He will be in our hearts and minds forever and we know that they are now reunited, safe in the arms of their Lord.
