Gilbert Donovan Obituary
AGE: 96 •
The family of Gilbert C. Donovan Jr. of Wall Township, NJ, previously of Spring Lake, NJ, announces his passing on October 21, 2016 at the age of 96. The son of Gilbert C. Donovan and Louise Heil Donovan, Gil was born in New York City, graduated from Jamaica High School and Syracuse University, and travelled extensively as an executive of General Motors overseas for 40 years. Gil served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
He married Bronson (Bonnie) Howard (pre-deceased), and they had four children, Gayle (Joseph Moran) of Dublin, Ireland, Gilbert "Chip" (Luann Bernocchi) of Fairfield, CT., Glenn (Melinda Chiasson) of Houma LA., and Kyle (pre-deceased). He was the granfather of 9 - Lauren, Lesley, Ian, Luke, and Stephen Donovan; Cheyne and Sinead Moran; and Shelby and Kimberly Donovan. Gil was the great-grandfather of 7 - Mia, Taylor, Natalie, Aubrey, Layla, Reese, and Levi. He was pre-deceasd by his sister Lucille Donovan Klumpp.
Gil was an avid tennis player, a high school and college athlete, and a passionate fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees. Gil was a devoted husband and family man who will be remembered for his congenial personality and constant good cheer. O'Brien's Funeral Home 732-449-6900
