HELEN TURTON
AGE: 84 NEW BRUNSWICK
Helen Turton, 84, daughter of the late George and Helen Donahue Kenyon, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the Frances E. Parker Memorial Home in Piscataway, where she had been a resident since November 2007. A lifelong resident of New Brunswick, Helen was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church where she belonged to the Altar Rosary Society and the Damian Dutton Society.
Helen was an active member of the Senior Citizens' Resource Center in New Brunswick and volunteered at the Frances E. Parker Memorial Home in New Brunswick for many years. In 1998 she received the Knights of Columbus Senior Citizen of the Year Award for her community service.
Before retiring, Helen worked at Research-Cottrell, Arnold Constable, and American Standard.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, who died in 1989, and her brothers, James, who died in 1993, and George, who died in 1997. Surviving are her sisters, Jean Donnelly (Joseph) of Bound Brook and Evelyn Walker (Alan) of Allenhurst; her nieces, Ellen Hodnett (Michael) of Toronto, Diane Donnelly (Bert) of Kentfield, Calif., and Anne Strutz (Mark) of Naperville, Ill.; her nephews, David Donnelly (Carol) of Dorset, Vermont, Jonathan Donnelly (Lillian) of Flemington, Joseph Walker (Nancy) of Laguna Beach, Calif., Michael Walker (Terri) of Princeton, Thomas Walker (Lynn) of Battleground, Washington, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., New Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
Known for her lively spirit and warm, outgoing personality, Helen was happiest when around others and maintained friendships with her high school classmates throughout her life. Helen will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
