HENRY A. SKALSKI
AGE: 93 SOUTH RIVER
Henry A. Skalski, age 93, of South River, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park, Edison. Born in Newark, he had resided there moving to South River 15 years ago. Before his retirement he was employed by the City of Newark Police Department retiring as a Lieutenant. He was a member of the Newark PBA, Superior Offices Association for Newark Police, and Fraternal Order of Police. Mr Skalski was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Keyport Veterans of Foreign Wars and a communicant of Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River.
He is predeceased by his parents, Czeslaw and Stefi Skalski. Surviving are his wife, the former Jennie Florczak Skalski; his children and their spouses, Chester and Ethel Skalski of Toms River, and Stephanie and Richard Fulham of Monroe; his grandchildren and their spouses, Chester and Christine Skalski, Loriann Skalski and Amanda and Howard Cottrell; and his great grandchildren, Jared, Connor and Erin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 8:30 a.m. from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River followed by a 9 a.m. mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River with burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, New Jersey. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
