DR. HOWARD VOGEL
AGE: 85 BRIDGEWATER
Dr. Howard Vogel, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010. Born in Somerville and was formerly of Bridgewater before moving to Naples, Florida in 2000. Dr. Vogel was employed as an optometrist in Raritan for over 49 years, retiring in 1998. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, serving in Pearl Harbor Medical Core. He was a member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater, where he was past treasurer of fundraising for the new Temple building. Dr. Vogel was a member of the Raritan Lions Club and the National Optometric Association. He was an avid NY Jets football fan and loved playing golf. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, whom he was very proud of. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; a son, Jeffrey and his wife Silvia; a daughter, Victoria B. Vogel and her husband Dane Blumenthal; a brother, Irwin Vogel and his wife Dorothy and three grandchildren, Cecelia Vogel and Justin and Zoe Blumenthal.
Funeral services will be 10:30am, Wednesday at Temple Sholom, 594 North Bridge St. Bridgewater. Interment will follow at Temple Sholom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave. Somerville. Memorial contributions can be made to Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 531313, Henderson, NV 89053.
