James Gombeda Obituary
AGE: 81 • Manville
James J. Gombeda, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsborough, NJ.
He was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph and Anna Gombeda. Mr. Gombeda was a resident of Manville, NJ for the past 63 years.
He worked in the maintenance department at the Johns-Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ for 33 years. Mr. Gombeda then worked at the Agfa Corp. in Branchburg, NJ before retiring.
He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and seeing his new great-grandson. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Mr. Gombeda was a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club. He loved gardening and being outside and working around the house. Mr. Gombeda also enjoyed antique model cars and trips to the Atlantic City, NJ and Bethlehem, PA Casinos. He was a member of Christ The King Roman Catholic Church (Christ The Redeemer Parish) in Manville, NJ.
He is predeceased by a brother Joseph Gombeda and by three sisters Dorothy Malletz, Anna Sales and Marie Winters. He is survived by his loving children, son, James J. Gombeda, Jr. of Wilkes-Barre, PA and 3 daughters, Marianne Mroz of Cedar Grove, NJ, Antoinette Gombeda of Manville, NJ and Jamie Gombeda of Sayreville, NJ, 3 brothers, George Gombeda and his wife Mary of Freeland, PA, Frances Gombeda of Mountain Top, PA and Bernard Gombeda of Hazleton, PA and by a sister Eleanor Brindock of Hazleton, PA. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren Christina Mroz and Jorge Barsa and by a great-grandson Jeffrey James Matos and by many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be on Tuesday July 26, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Funeral will be on Wednesday July 27, 2016 8:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Drums, Pennsylvania. For additional information please visit our website at www.ketusky.com.
