James Huylebroeck Obituary
AGE: 83 • Hazlet
James William Huylebroeck, 83, of Hazlet, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas J. Huylebroeck and Lenore Sugrue and a brother Tom Huylebroeck. James is survived by son Keith and his wife Eileen of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and daughter Karen Gretsuk of Holmdel. He also leaves behind sisters Holly Brooke of New York and Ann Harrison of Oregon; and brother Paul Huylebroeck of Quebec, Canada and Mike Huylebroeck and his wife Rosemary of Arizona.
James also survived by five loving grandchildren; Tamara, Allison, Keith, Katie and Brian.
James was a Merchant Marine during World War II, an avid dance roller skater, and one of the pioneers of computer programming at Western Electric.
Family and friends are invited Tuesday, June 25, 2013, from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Wednesday, 8:30AM at the funeral home, with a 9:15AM mass of Christian burial at Saint Joseph's Church of Keyport. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Riverview Medical Center Rehab, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, New Jersey 07701. Keith, Eileen, and family:
We were all saddened to hear of your dad's passing. The Delahunts knew The Huylebroecks from so many of the Houlihan family events over the years. And a never ending newsline from Laurie.
When Anne passed it had to have been a terrible blow to all of you, but most especially for your dad. Your parents were like our parents-loving, dedicated to family and each other, but with a special bond as husband and wife. How many couples can say that they were partners in marriage AND a skating ring? And I'm sure there were many other things non-family members never even knew about!
I will always remember the photos of them on skates. We girls thought they were so cool, and so special to have been able to work,play,and love together like that. Again, not many couples get that chance.
In order to raise such thoughtful, loving children, they had to be that way themselves. We know that you will miss your dad terribly-83 is still way too young. But now, he's with your mom. That has to make him happiest! And be a comfort you in your grief.
