James Mazzio Obituary

James A. Mazzio

AGE: 88 • Jamesburg

James A. Mazzio, 88, of Jamesburg died Thursday January 9th at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Mr. Mazzio was born in Monroe Twp. and was a lifelong resident of Jamesburg.

He was employed for over 25 years as a heavy equipment operator with the Middlesex County Parks Department, retiring in the 1980's. Mr. Mazzio was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater and attaining the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. He was a member of the Jamesburg Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief, president and fire commissioner, a member of the American Legion Post #127, Jamesburg and a former policeman in Jamesburg.

He is predeceased by his brothers Danny, Matthew, Dominick and Joseph and his sister Angelina Legato. Surviving are his wife of 62 years Josephine Spicuzza, his son James of Jamesburg, his daughters, Christine Holtz-Niven and Linda Lynch, both of Jamesburg, his brothers Rocco of Edison and Anthony of Arizona, his sisters Betty Reid of Spotswood and Millie Burdge of Jamesburg, Antoinette Suta of Lakewood and Mamie Adanca of Marlboro, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Services will begin at 9 am Monday January 13th at the Lester Memorial Home 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg followed by a 9:30 am funeral liturgy at St. James RC Church, Jamesburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Monday 8-9 am at the funeral home.
