JAMES "BUTCH" VELTRI
AGE: 72 WARETOWN
James "Butch" Veltri, 72, of Waretown, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Bergen County, Butch and his family resided in Dumont until moving to Waretown in 1971. In 1975, he built a new family home in Forked River. In 2002, Butch returned to Waretown. He was the owner/operator of Vel Construction, Lacey, retiring in 2005. He was a charter member of the Lacey Elks, a member of the Holiday Beach Club and also a member of the Sons of The American Legion. He was a former member of the Lacey Moose and Lions Club and the Fish Hawks. Butch will always be remembered as a fun-filled person who loved to tell jokes. He had a legendary ability to remember and deliver his jokes, entertaining people for hours. He is best remembered asking, "Did you hear the one?" He was an avid hunter and fisherman who made annual trips to Maine with family and friends since the 50's. Butch was also known on occasion to sing and play a banjo for family and friends at social gatherings.
Surviving are his daughter, Donna and her husband Russell A. Moller, Forked River; a son, James M. Veltri and his fiancee Diana Bruno, Forked River; a brother, Ronald Veltri and his wife Margo, Forked River; a brother, Armand Veltri, Paterson; a sister, Patricia Horwath and her husband Larry, Florida; a grandson, Russell R. Moller Jr., Forked River; and his longtime companion, Marion Conroy, Waretown.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, with a religious service at 3:15 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Route 9 North, Forked River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deborah Heart & Lung Center, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015, in James "Butch" Veltri's memory.

Uncle Butch, I was saddened with the news I got on Thanksgiving yesterday. Memories of you cracking jokes to my late great grandmother peg smalts makes my heart laugh.I know you are telling some good ones to the angels and making their wings fall off up there-love to your family and love from your god daughter.
