Joan Trent Obituary

Joan P. Trent

Monmouth Jct - Joan P. Trent, of South Brunswick, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 74.

Born in New Brunswick, she lived Milltown before moving to the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick

Joan was a very dedicated member and Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg.

She was the owner of the Milltown Ice Cream Depot for the past 25 years. Previously she had owned Continental Pools and DJ Spas in Milltown.

Joan was well known in the community for her unselfish generosity and always willing to help everyone. She was the glue that held the Milltown Lions club together, where she served as past President and Secretary.

She's predeceased by her husband, Dorsey Lee Trent (d. 2018), her daughter Wendelyn Barbely (d. 2020) and her parents Robert and Joan Hoelzer.

Surviving are her son, Dorsey Lee Trent, Jr. of Monmouth Jct., her son-in-law Robert Barbely of Manning, SC, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Christy Hoelzer of North Carolina; her grandchildren Michael R. Hammond and his wife Lauren of Lawrence, Patricia Lynn Barbely of Manning, SC, and her fiancé Pierce Hammen, and Nicholas, Vincent and Arianna Trent of Monmouth Jct.; and her beloved great grandson Cillian Hammond.

Friends and relatives may call on Friday, May 21st, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10:00 am, at the Presbyterian Church, 175 Gatzner Avenue, Jamesburg. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, NJ.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg or the Milltown Lions Club, c/o 170 N Main St, Milltown 08850. You may sign the online condolence "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com
