Beatrice Sweeney Obituary

FALL RIVER — Beatrice B. (Baker) Sweeney, 88, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Southpointe Rehab and Skilled Care Center in Fall River, after a long illness. She was the widow of James Patrick Sweeney and was married for 63 years.

She was the daughter of the late Harry Hall and Elise (Vinal) Baker. She was born in Franklin, PA and lived most of her life in New Bedford.

She graduated from New Bedford High School and worked at the American Press for over thirty years as a Proof Reader. Throughout her life her passion was her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan M. Sweeney of Falmouth; three sons, Luke M. Sweeney and his wife, Colleen of Tiverton, James Sweeney, Jr., and his wife, Linda and Kevin Sweeney, both of New Bedford; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also the sister of the late Patricia Silva.

Visitation will be Thursday evening 5-8 PM at Rock Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be at St. John Neumann Church, E. Freetown on Friday at 9:45 AM. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
