John Hyer Obituary
AGE: 71 • Howell Twp.
John "Jack" Thomas Hyer, Sr., 71, of Howell Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at home. John was born in Long Branch, NJ, grew up in Oakhurst, and resided in Lakewood Twp. for 20 years before moving to Howell Twp. 9 years ago. He was the original owner and operator of Carefree Limousine and My Milkman home delivery service prior to his retirement in 2007. John enjoyed his trips to Union, SC, and working in his garage on his cars. In addition, he was a member of The Divco Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Grace (Carney) Hyer. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lana (Shirey) Hyer; two sons, John Jr. of Belmar, NJ, and Shawn and his wife, Sarah of Tarpin Springs, FL, and his grandchildren, Matthew and Ian; his step-daughter, Kimberly Nelson and his step-grandson, Charles Nelson who resided with him in Howell; his brother, Ernest of Manchester Twp., NJ; his sister, Margaret Hurley of Brick Twp., NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM with his funeral ceremony at 8:00 PM at The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 20 Monterey Circle, Lakewood Twp., NJ 08701 or to VITAS Hospice NJ Shore, 1040 Broad St., Third Floor, Suite 301, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702, and would greatly be appreciated. This is Mitzi Meador at 300 Wilson St. in Union, SC. I just wanted to let you know that Richard and I think about you Lana and John often. I´ll never forget him giving our son Matthew a little tool set pliers for his birthday. Matthew had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and was in a wheelchair. Matthew passed on 6/18/2017, at 28. We miss so much. We especially think of John every time we use one of those pliers from Matthew´s toolbox. We will never forget him. He was a kind man.

Long time friend of Ernie's, Ernie spoke highly of his brother, Jack! Having been on my mind, not hearing from Ernie in ages,Im so sorry to learn of the recent losses in the family. Thoughts and Prayers to you. Hope to hear from you sometime Ernie.
