John C. Ogonowski, 86, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. John was born in Elizabeth. He honorably served his country in both the Merchant Marines and US Army. After marrying, he and his wife Gloria moved to Garwood, where they raised 5 children. He was an active member of the community and held the title of Garwood police commissioner. John worked as a lineman for PSE&G, in Elizabeth, and was elected to the position of IBEW President, which he held for 10 years. After his retirement from PSE&G John owned and operated Loree Jon Billiards, in Greenbrook, which he operated for 15 years. He enjoyed both playing and teaching billiards. He moved to Flemington, NJ in 2007. He was a communicant of St. Magdalen R.C. Church in Flemington. John loved spending summers at his vacation home on Lake Champlain in Swanton VT, as well as spending winters at his home in Port Richey, FL. He loved the game of golf. As a golf enthusiast, John was very proud to have had his first hole-in-one in Port Richey, FL. John was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 64 years, Gloria; his children, Linda Ogle, Mark Ogonowski and his wife Janet, Nancy Skalaski and her husband Richard, Cheryl Neill and her husband James, Loree Jon Hasson and her husband Dave; two sisters, Eleanor Randolph and Mary Baron; 15 grandchildren, Gloria Lynn, Billy, Michael, Brendon, Lisa, Ronni Lynn, Nichole, Stacey, Richie, Kelly, Ryan, Thomas, Jonathan, Jessica and Matthew; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial mass will be on November 8 at 9am at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Church, in Flemington, NJ. Reception to follow at the Flemington Fields Clubhouse, 102 Hart Blvd. Flemington 08822.
