John Rosset Obituary

John G. de Rosset

Green Brook - John G. "Jack" de Rosset, 80, died Saturday, January, 30, 2021 at CareOne LTACH, St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was born in Somerville to David and Dorothy de Rosset, and resided in Green Brook his entire life.

Jack was co-owner of The Model Railroad Shop in Piscataway for 40 years. He began his career working at Mack Trucks in Plainfield, and later with Dameo Trucking in Bridgewater. He was a graduate of Dunellen High School and attended the University of North Carolina.

Jack was a life-time member of the Dunellen United Methodist Church. He was also a long time member of the Green Brook Volunteer Fire Company, beginning as a junior fireman and was currently a member of the Green Brook Exempt Fireman's Association.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Thomas de Rosset to whom he was married for 51 years. He is also survived by his brother, D. Wayne de Rosset and his wife Sherry of Glenville, WV; a nephew, Dylan de Rosset (Rhianna); a niece, Brittany Metzgar (Bryan); and a great niece, Felicity.

According to his wishes, Jack will be cremated. The family is planning a celebration of Jack's life at a future time when friends may gather and share memories and joys of his life. The family has requested that donations may be made in Jack's memory to The Dunellen United Methodist Church, 150 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, NJ, 08812.
