MCCROBIE SR.
AGE: 92 EDISON
Joseph E. McCrobie Sr., 92, of Edison, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Cedar Oaks Care Center, South Plainfield. Born in Tara Alta, W.Va., he had resided in Iselin before moving to Edison 25 years ago. He was a tanker truck driver for various companies for over 35 years with a flawless driving record. He was a musician of many instruments and played in many community bands. Mr. McCrobie was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of The Fugel Hummer American Legion Post 65 in Metuchen and The Iselin VFW Post 2636. He was also a member of the Blue Grass and Old Time Music Association of N.J., and a charter member of the Pinelands Cultural Society in Waretown. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Iselin.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Krohne McCrobie; two sons, Joseph E. Jr. of Roanoke, Va., and James H. of Bound Brook; two daughters, Barbara Livingston of Somerset, and Susan Girgenti of Whiting; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a funeral service at 8 p.m. at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen (costello-runyon.com). The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 for an 11:30 a.m. committal service at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
