JOSEPH S. SOKOLOSKY
AGE: 81 PARLIN
Joseph S. Sokolosky, 81, of Parlin died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson/Univ. Medical Center in New Brunswick. He was born in McAdoo, PA, he lived in Manhattan, NY for 40 years and in Parlin for the past 40 years. He was a professional Truck Driver for 40 years and was last employed by the Chemical Leaman Tank Line in Matawan and in 1993 he retired. He was a recipient of an award for 4 million miles of safe driving. An Army Veteran of the WWII and Korean Wars and was a member of the VFW Post 4699 Honor Guard of Sayreville and the American Legion Post 211 of Sayreville. He was a faithful volunteer at the Sayreville Senior Center, and a member of St. Bernadette Church in Parlin.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna J. Sokolosky in 1994; sister, Hedwig Drogan; nephews, Braun Drogan and Ronald Dennis Drogan. He is survived by his beloved and devoted step daughter, JoAnn Lee with whom he resided in Parlin; Sister, Wanda DeRisi of New York; nephews, Dr. Dwight DeRisi and Cliff DeRisi of New York; niece, Diane Cirilo of Red Bank.
Services on Wednesday 10:30am from the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main St. South Amboy. 11am mass at St. Bernadette Church, Parlin. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 6-8pm In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or for masses, Sayreville VFW Post 4699 Honor Guard and members will hold services 7:30pm on Tuesday.
