Joseph M. Taillefer, of Lakewood died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. He was 89 years old. Born in Newark, NJ; He resided in the Avenel Section of Woodbridge Township before moving to Lakewood in 11 years ago. Mr. Taillefer was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. He was employed as a Dock Foreman for Bilkay's Express in Newark for 35 years retiring in 1984. He was a Communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel, and was a member of the Colonia American Legion Post #248 and The St. Andrew's Knights of Columbus Council #5088 in Avenel.

He was predeceased by his wife Barbara Sanolan Taillefer who died in 1997. He is survived by four sons Michael Taillefer and his wife Patty of Keansburg, Joseph Taillefer of Metuchen, Philip Taillefer and his girlfriend Suzanne of Lakewood, and Anthony Taillefer and his wife Janice of Sayreville; two daughters Francesca Taillefer of Monmouth Beach, and Barbara Taillefer of Palmetto, Florida; two brothers Salvatore Taillefer of Howell, and Edward Taillefer of Avenel; a sister Marion Quinn of Iselin; five grand children David Michael Taillefer, Anthony Taillefer, Brittany Taillefer, Nicholas, Taillefer, and Dylan Taillefer. A Great-Grandson Philip Dawson Taillefer.

Funeral will take place Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, (www.costello-koyen.com) 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A 9:30 a.m. Funeral liturgy will take place at St. Andrew's R.C. Church. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park, Hanover Township, NJ. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
