Louise M. Traphagen

AGE: 83 • Middletown

Louise M. Traphagen, 83, of Middletown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born Louise Merkel on December 31, 1932 in Scranton, PA, where she began her childhood. In 1940, Louise moved with her family to Bloomfield, where she grew up. On September 1, 1952, Louise and her husband, Robert, were married and began their life together. In 1958, they relocated to Hazlet to raise their family. In 1995, they retired to Lincoln, DE, and in 2005, relocated to Toms River; they recently settled in Middletown. While living in the Hazlet area, Louise worked as a unit secretary for Bayshore Community Hospital; she was currently retired.

She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Louise (Grant) Merkel, her son, Michael J. Traphagen, and her sister, Jean Wixwat. Louise is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert L. Traphagen; her loving children, Robert Traphagen Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Hazlet, Donna J. Hadel and her husband, Joseph, of Middletown, Nancy Schork and her husband, Dale, of Hazlet, and Barbara Taylor and her husband, Richard, of Hazlet. Louise is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Melissa Lentz, Christine Apple, William Traphagen, Scott Hadel, Lyndsey Schork, Connor Hadel, Kevin Schork, Jonathan Traphagen, Richard Taylor Jr., Joshua and Anna Traphagen, Madison and Morgan Taylor; her adored great grandchildren, Sophia, Emily, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Dean; her special nieces, Susan, Lynn, and Karen; and her dear friends, the women of the LAFF Club and the Golden Girls. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 10th from 4 to 8 PM, and Wednesday, May 11th from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, May 11th at 10:15 AM, The Catholic Church of St. Ann, Keansburg. Interment, Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Louise to The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, www.philarmh.org, would be greatly appreciated.
