Margaret Warters Obituary

Margaret Reimer Warters

Lincroft - Margaret Reimer Warters, Margot, 91, passed away quietly amongst friends on Friday, January 15th, 2021.

Margot was born and raised in Ojai, California among horses, orange groves and avocado trees. She practically learned to ride horses before she learned to walk. Margot was a graduate of Scripps College in Claremont, CA. It was during that time she met her husband William D. Warters (Bill) who was completing his graduate studies at Cal Tech.

Margot and Bill moved east to New Jersey after their marriage in 1952. A longtime resident of Monmouth County, Margot raised her two sons and created a home on a farmette in Lincroft. She was known for her love of horses, gardening, cooking and entertaining. Her delicious roast chicken, amazing strawberry & raspberry jams, love of comb honey, and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

Margot is preceded in death by her parents Margaret H. and Alfred B. Reimer, husband William D. Warters, and her brother John B. Reimer. She is survived by her two sons, John B. Warters (Liz) of Newport News, VA and William D. Warters, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Samuel G. Warters (Kate), Alice M. Warters, Sylvester T. Warters, and Harrison B. Warters; and two great grandchildren, Edith K. Warters and Jude S. Warters.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the constant care and love given to Margot over the many years from Chela St. Onge, Tony and Sephline Jackson, and their friend Peta Gay Powell.

The family asks that anyone wishing to acknowledge or give a gift in Margot's honor to please send in support of SPUR at The Sunnyside Equestrian Center, 628 Middletown-Lincroft Rd, Lincroft, NJ 07738. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, NJ, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I think of Margot each time I come across the recipe for ginger ale gelatin fruit salad she wrote for me in her beautiful hand. Betsy Wilson

Margot was a gentle lady, lover of nature and supporter of the arts. She never drew attention to herself.
