Maria Giusseppa Turchi Mattoscio

AGE: 98 ? Howell

Maria Giusseppa Turchi Mattoscio died on February 11, 2011 at 98 years of age. She was born in Gessopalena, Provincia di Chieti in Italy. She immigrated to the United States with her husband, Nicolo in 1931, living initially in Detroit, Michigan and Sandusky, Ohio before moving to Brooklyn, New York in 1936. She relocated to Howell, NJ in 1976. After her husband's death in 1940, she raised her two children working as a seamstress. She was extremely active in Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish and the Redemptorist Mothers' Guild in Brooklyn.

She is predeceased by twin daughters, Madelena and Nobila Maria, her husband, Nicolo, and her son, Reverend Carmine Mattoscio, OSB. She is survived by her daughter, Binetta Mattoscio Dolan, and son-in-law, Richard James Dolan; seven grandchildren , Richard, Michael and Peter Dolan, Marie Mackanic, Christine Devine, Catherine Famelio and Madelaine Goldman and their spouses; as well as seventeen great grandchildren David, Krystle, Jacqueline, Kaitlyn, Michael, Nicolas, Emily and Mathew Dolan, as well as Elizabeth Keen, Kim and Stephanie Mackanic; Richard, Patrick and Conor Devine; Kayla Famelio; and Skye and Jacob Goldman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6250 Route 9 South, Howell, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St Veronica's Church, Howell. Burial will follow at St John's Cemetery, Queens, NY.
