MATTHEW J. LYMAN
AGE: 30 SOMERSET
Matthew J. Lyman died January 14, 2011 in New Brunswick. He was 30. Matt was born in New Brunswick and resided in Manville before moving to Somerset 5 years ago. Matt was a graduate of Manville High School and attended Rutgers University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. During his service he resided in Galveston, TX. Matt was an avid outdoorsman. His love for the outdoors led to his occupation with the North Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department. He was an ardent sports fan, devoted to the sport of hockey and the Devils. He had played hockey since his childhood and was currently a member of both ice and roller hockey men's leagues. Matt was a history buff and a welder.
He was predeceased by his maternal great grandparents; Captain John Otterbein Sr and Anna Staudt Otterbein and his maternal grandfather John J. Otterbein Jr. Matt is
survived by his mother Anne Otterbein Lyman of Somerset, his father Joseph Lyman of Montclair, his
maternal grandmother Mary Campbell Otterbein of Somerset, his uncles and aunts: Jack and Stephanie Otterbein of East
Brunswick and Robert and Judy Otterbein of
Montgomery and his cousins; Katy, Eric, Jake and Cole.
Services will be Tuesday 9:30 AM from the Gleason Funeral Home 1360
Hamilton Street Somerset, followed a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Saint Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove
Cemetery, Middlebush.
Visitation is MONDAY from 3:00 to 7:00 at the Funeral home. Terri & I are truly sorry for your loss, please accept our sincere condolences. I remember one day on the beach at the Shores that Matt injured his hand preventing someone else from getting hurt by a flying object. That was so typical of him.
