Michael Butler Obituary
AGE: 61 • Tinton Falls
Michael P. "Mike" Butler, 61, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at NYU Medical Center. Mike was born in Teaneck, NJ, grew up in Middletown and was predeceased by his parents, Thomas P. and Martha H. (Elkan) Butler. Mike was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School Class of 1971. He was the owner/operator of Mike Butler Plumbing and Heating Inc. for over 40 years. Mike loved to have a good time, especially with his beloved wife Mary Ellen. He was a proud, loving and affectionate Pop Pop to his five grandchildren Laken, Luke, Hayley, Ledger and Paxton. He enjoyed numerous good times with his family and friends. He was also an avid golfer, loved to travel and entertain. He loved life and his gentle loving nature will be missed by all of those who loved him including his family, friends and his best friend Mary Ellen who will miss him most of all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Mary Ellen (Goerl) Butler; sons;, Mike Jr. of Freehold and Brian Howell and wife Jessica of Bluff City, TN; daughter, Lindsey Thompson and husband Scott of Deptford, NJ; brother, Thomas M. of Morganville; sister, Deborah Abrams and husband John of Ocean Twp.; sisters-in-law, Joanne Compton and husband Bob of Belford and Amy Goerl and partner Lynn Sosnowski of Highlands, as well as nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28th from 4-8pm at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701. A funeral home service will take place Thursday, May 29th. I go to know Mike as the plumbing contractor for several of the homes that we designed and Goodhue Brothers built. He was truly a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. Mary Ellen, I am still in S.C. just found out on facebook. I am so sorry to read that Mike has passed away. My heart is with you my dear friend. I will be in touch when I get back to N.J. Never in a million years would I have thought Mike would not go back home, well and ok.
