Michael Mendlen Obituary
AGE: 81 • Boynton Beach, FL
Michael Alan Mendlen, "Mickey", born January 9, 1936 in Irvington, New Jersey passed away Friday, June 2nd at 81, with his loved ones at his side.
"Captain Mickey" resided in both Boynton Beach, Florida and the Highlands, NJ for the past thirty years. His dynamic and charismatic personality took him through many walks of life including Journeyman Ironworker, furniture designer, retail manufacturer, and restauranteur. He then followed his passion for boating, becoming a Captain and later Dock Master at the Molly Pitcher and Oyster Point Marinas, until his retirement in 2015.
Mickey is survived by his Sister Linda Zevin, his daughter Leslie Kesselhaut, his son Mark Mendlen, Leslie's husband Marc, "Doc", Kesselhaut, his five grandchildren Alex, Jake, Ben, Greg and Olivia, his former wife Sandra Mendlen, nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family: Lisa, Michael and Alison Rosenburgh, Lori Rosenburgh Spezzacatena, and Corrado, Ryan and Daniel Spezzacatena and best friend and love, Fran Tessler.
Donations in memory of Mickey can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or the Special Olympics, two of his favorite charities.
There will be a memorial service in Captain Mick's honor on Thursday, June 15th at the Molly Pitcher Hotel in Red Bank, NJ at 6:30pm.

Michael was my older brother's good friend and I know him growing up in Irvington, New Jersey. Mickey and sister Linda lived down the block from us...His mother was a wonderful pianist... He was fun, handsome and I'm sorry I never knew him as an adult. I just heard of his passing...My condolences to Mickey's family.
