Michael Sullivan

Middletown - Michael "Pops" Sullivan, age 66, a 37-year resident of Middletown, passed away peacefully at his beloved beach home in Ortley Beach on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Born in Jersey City to Raymond and Virginia Sullivan, Michael was one of five children. Michael absolutely loved "the city" of Jersey City and was a proud graduate of St. Peter's College (now University). He went on to receive his Master's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and operated his accounting firm, Michael D. Sullivan, CPA in Eatontown for many years. Proud of his Irish heritage, Michael enjoyed his membership of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Belmar, dedicated to the purpose of good fellowship, Irish heritage and fraternity of his fellow members. He relished his time in volunteer coaching while his children were growing up and appreciated the value of always making the time to attend their sports games. Michael was also an avid Yankees fan. Michael is predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother, Raymond Sullivan and brother-in-law, Lee Fischbeck. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Jane (nee: Upton) Sullivan. He is also survived by his loving children, Kate Jemella and husband Brian, Matthew Sullivan and wife Kerriann and Gregory Sullivan and wife Elizabeth, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Lucas, Emma, Hannah, Grace and Colin. Michael also leaves behind his caring siblings, Kathy Fischbeck, Kenneth Sullivan and wife Rose and Joanne Gray and husband Alan, his sister-in-law, Maryellen Sullivan, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Upton and wife Linda, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass honoring Michael's life will be held Monday, August 23, 2021 at 10:15am at the Church of Saint Leo the Great, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft. Private cremation will follow.
