MIGUEL A. VAZQUEZ
AGE: 82 HELMETTA
Miguel Angel Vazquez, 82, of Helmetta, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at his home. Born and raised in Corozal, Puerto Rico, Miguel lived in the Bronx and Queens, NY for 29 years before settling in Helmetta in 1991. He retired in 2006 after 45 years with Pfingst and Co., Inc. of South Plainfield. He was a communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Jamesburg. He enjoyed playing dominos, going to the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, dancing, his wife's home cooking and, was an avid NY Yankees fan. He also enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife, Luz and son, Luis.
Predeceased by his son Edwin Vazquez in 1991, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Luz Belen (Rodriguez) Vazquez of Helmetta; his son Luis Vazquez and his partner Michael Wilhelm of New York; his daughters, Ivette Vazquez of Staten Isl., NY and Jeanette Vazquez-Osahon and her husband Dan of Helmetta; his brothers, Angel Luis and Jose Vazquez; his sisters, Rosa Rios, Esther DiMichele, Iraida Vazquez, Blanca Otero, Gladys Guadalupe, Nilsa "Coqui" Vazquez and Nilsa "Tidi" Vazquez, and five grandchildren, Danny, Nicole and Sophia Osahon and Jake and Joseph Somma.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM, Monday from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial from St. James RC Church, Jamesburg. Cremation is private. The family will receive friends this evening (Sunday) from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
