Morris Higgins Obituary

Morris Hugh Higgins

Plainfield - Morris Hugh Higgins was born on April 12, 1942 to Catherine Russell and Cleveland Higgins in the Parish of St Ann, Jamaica. He attended government schools and pursued his career as an electrician chiefly working on large projects under supervision of expert electricians until he became independent. His career led to the application of his skills on major government and private projects on the Island. At the age of 44 years, Mr. Higgins migrated to the United States of America where he gained more experiences in his field and continued to serve his community mainly as an independent/private contractor. Mr. Higgins was admired by friends and associate as a trusted, dependable colleague. He was a master electrician and was largely preoccupied with independent work contracts to which he paid strict attention. He enjoyed riding, farming and holiday celebration visits to reconnect with members of his extended family. He may best be remembered for his humble, quiet disposition.

He was predeceased by his parents Catherine Russell Calnick and Cleveland Higgins, sisters Diana Calnick, Mavis Higgins Green and brother Pauley Higgins.

He is survived by his loving wife Edna Higgins; children: Neville Williams, Maxine James, Jacqueline Higgins and Audrey Higgins-Barnes; sons-in law: Earle James, Sr and Lances Barnes; daughter-in-law: Verna Williams; grandchildren: Oral James, Delroy Williams, Earle James Jr. (EJ), Jason James, DeVante Williams, Darin Barnes, and Silina Dixon; Great Grandchildren: Omari James, Isaiah Dixon and Mason Williams, brothers: Danny Calnick, Desmond Higgins and Newton Higgins; sisters Lena Higgins, Lydia Higgins Davis, Eunice Higgins Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
