Patricia E. Forsyth

Hertford, NC

Patricia Ellen Forsyth of Hertford, NC. passed away on May 29, 2015 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA.. She had been suffering the effects of bladder cancer. Born in Irvington, New Jersey on January 26, 1943, to Joseph Francis Xavier Hughes and Florence Daw Hughes and raised in Edison, NJ, Pat graduated from Edison High School in 1960 and Trenton State College in 1964 with a degree in Business Education. She taught business subjects at J.P. Stevens High School in Edison from 1964 to 1971, and was an Assistant Tax Collector in North Brunswick, NJ for many years before retiring in 1998.

Pat married Charles A. Forsyth of Little Falls, NJ in 1967 and they settled in North Brunswick, NJ in 1969, remaining there for the next 34 years. Together, they had two children. A daughter, Melissa Lee, was born in 1971 and a son, Christopher Charles, followed in 1973. Pat and Charlie retired to Hertford, NC in 2003. They relocated to Melissa's home in Yardley, PA in December 2014 in order to receive cancer treatment in Philadelphia. Pat was a devoted and loving wife and mother, an avid and award-winning quilter, and an excellent cook and homemaker. She also loved line dancing and playing bridge and golf with her many friends, and derived great pleasure from spending time with and watching her grandchildren grow up. Pat participated in numerous community service projects, and worshipped at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenton, NC.

She is survived by her husband Charles, her daughter Melissa Wayne and her husband Rich Wayne, of Yardley, PA, and her son Chris Forsyth and his wife Maria Dumlao of Philadelphia, as well as her three grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew, and several cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held in Yardley, PA and a funeral mass and memorial will be scheduled later this summer in Hertford, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Pat's memory be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia or Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA.
