Peter John Spaulding of the Parlin section of Sayreville died peacefully February 25, 2015 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick surrounded by his family. Born in East Orange and raised in Bloomfield, "Quiet Pete" was a proud American who served his country bravely during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Pete continued his public service for years through his passionate "letters to the editor" that frequently adorned the pages of the local papers. Before his retirement in 1992 he worked as a brewer for almost 30 years at Anheuser Busch in Newark. His love of fishing often landed him on the beaches of Lavallette with his rod and reel or on the docks of the Barnegat bay with his crab traps. He loved to cook and eat and one summer was lucky enough to get invited to ride on the Star Ledger's Munchmobile, one of his funniest memories.

Survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia, they had three children and five grandchildren. His son Peter and his wife Sara of West Des Moines, Iowa, son James and girlfriend Laura Tewes of South Plainfield, and daughter Kerryann and husband Kenneth Silvestri of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge. His three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Faith Spaulding of Ringwood, Frank and Anita Spaulding of Bedford, Virginia and John and Laura Spaulding of Wayne.

A proud and loving Grandfather, he is survived by his five grandsons: Sam and Ben of Milltown, Rory and Grady of West Des Moines, Iowa and his "Best Buddy" AJ Silvestri of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge. Grandpa and AJ were constant companions and had a cherished bond that defies description. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 8:15am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9am at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
