Regina Marie (O'Neill) Johnson

AGE: 85 • Lakewood

Regina Marie (O'Neill) Johnson, 85, of Lakewood passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 when she joined her loving husband in heaven on his birthday. Regina was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ. She moved to New York and then to Brick Township where she lived for many years before moving to Lakewood in 2007. Regina worked first for the Township of Brick and then the Brick Township Board of Education as a secretary until her retirement in 1991. Regina was a communicant of Saint Martha Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Senior Beehive there. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Regina was predeceased by her parents, William and Helen (Nellie) O'Neill; her beloved husband of 22 years, William Emmett Johnson; her brothers, Jack, Gerald and William O'Neill and his wife Emily. Regina is survived by her sons, Charles and William Holmes and his wife Kathryn (McNulty); her daughter, Regina Hayes; her grandchildren, Kelly, Robert, Michael and John; her great-grandsons, Shane and Aiden; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn O'Neill and Hazel Maratta; many nieces, nephews and friends including her dear friend, Eileen Gleason.

Visitation will be held at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 4 - 8 p.m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, August 14 at Saint Martha R.C. Church, Point Pleasant. Interment will follow at Saint Catherine Cemetery in Sea Girt. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Home Instead Senior Care for their support, especially Elizabeth Thomas for her daily care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in Regina's name at www.heart.org would be sincerely appreciated. Bill,Charlie and Regina, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of "Mom".I have a number of Great,Happy memories of sitting in the kitchen or living- room talking to both mom and Emmitt. The last time I was sitting and talking with "Mom",Long lost Bill happened to call the house and she was so glad to see us talking on the phone .like "old- Times"to one another .Mom was always Proud of and "Bragged" about her two boys and daughter.She felt so blessed for her Grandchildren.I will keep all of you and Mom in my prayers and thoughts.Love and miss you guys.
