Rhoda Wilentz Obituary

Rhoda S. Wilentz

Edison

Rhoda S. Wilentz passed away peacefully in her home in Edison, New Jersey on February 25, 2017.

Mrs. Wilentz was born on August 22, 1928 in Newark, the daughter of David and Ida Slobodien. After attending Weequahic High School in Newark, she graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a liberal arts degree. She worked, for some time, in stylish boutique stores, where her eye for fashion was put to good use. She was a beautiful, elegant, and kind woman, possessed of strength of character and a bracing honesty.

She married Warren W. Wilentz, one of New Jersey's preeminent attorneys in 1966. Their 44-year marriage was a long-running love story. Their life together was a grand adventure, in which they shared many high times and great joys with their family and friends. When her husband suffered a catastrophic accident in 2002, Mrs. Wilentz was his constant companion and caregiver, never leaving his side, until his death seven years later.

Mrs. Wilentz was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted aunt, and a generous and loyal friend.

She is survived by her son Stephen Baime and her daughter-in-law Ruth, her stepson Wayne Wilentz and his wife Lisa, and her daughter-in-law Randi Baime. Also surviving Mrs. Wilentz are her grandchildren Samantha Nunziata and her husband Thomas Nunziata, Jacob Baime, Issac Baime, and Dana Wilentz. She is predeceased by her son Marc Baime, her stepdaughter Gay Wilentz, her grandson Ilan Baime, and her brother Richard Slobodien.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, 12:00 noon at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ. Contributions in her memory may be made to JFK Foundation, Edison, NJ.

I would like to express my deepest respect and appreciation to this great person that I was fortunate enough to cross paths with. I knew Mrs Wilentz for about 18 years . She would come to New York every Thursday for her manicure and she would become one of my very beloved clients always caring about what was going on with me and my personal life , giving me great advice . I always felt like she was one of my friends that was visiting me . I am very sorry to hear this news of her passing over to the other side but I'm confident that she is very happy to be together with her beloved husband Warren and her son Mark again .Please accept my sincere condolences.
