Robert John Diller Sr. "Bob", passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at his home. Mr. Diller was born Nov. 6, 1951 in Rahway to the late Shirley Johnston Diller and Harry C. Diller. He attended St. Mary's School, Plainfield High School, and later Union College. Mr. Diller owned and operated his own trucking company until he was seriously injured in an accident several years ago. After a long recuperation, he spent his last two years at his favorite pastime, playing with his children, and being with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Blackman Diller; and his three children, Robert John Diller Jr. "Jack", 14, and twins, Liam Blackman Diller and Marykate Diller, 12. He also leaves behind three living brothers, Thomas C. of Elmwood Park and his two sons, Jason and Chad; Richard R. and wife Jean of Sryma, Del., and their three children, Jessica, Michelle, and Marie, and their four children; and his brother, William J. Diller/Laura Cozlowski of The Villages, Fla. and his two daughters, Amy and Kristi Lyn. He has also survived by three sisters. Elizabeth Ann of Scotch Plains, Shirley M. Byrath of East Brunswick, and her daughter Beth Ann, and his sister Sarah Diller, of Old Bridge.
He was predeceased by his eldest brother, Harry J. whose wife Linda lives in Wall and their children, Christopher and Kate.
On his wife's side, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Robert B. Blackman of Edison, his wife, Janet A., their son Daniel J., and his wife Sherry; a sister-in-law, Anne E. Horan of Westfield, her husband Donald P. and their children, Elizabeth and Timothy. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family, and many friends.
The visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his loving memory to the Diller Children's Fund, 21 First St., Old Bridge NJ, 08857. Please make checks payable to Sarah Diller.
