Robert Halmi Obituary

Robert G. Halmi

Freehold - Robert G. Halmi, 56, of Freehold, died at his home on Sunday, July 18th.

Born and raised in South Amboy and Sayreville, he was a member of the South Amboy Volunteer First Aid Squad and an Exempt Member of the Melrose Hose Company, Sayreville Fire Department. He and his family moved to Freehold in 1998. Bob was a Police Officer with the Colts Neck Police Department until his retirement in 2011. Not one to sit idly at home, Bob worked for the Marlboro Board of Education after his "retirement".

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen Ann Halmi (Sisko); their four amazing sons, Robert (26) of Ft Bragg, NC, Andrew (23) of Ft Bliss, TX, Christopher (19) and Thomas (16) Halmi of Freehold; his mother Helen Halmi; brothers, Joseph (MaryAnn) Halmi and Martin (Peggy) Halmi; as well as many nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob was pre-deceased by his father, Joseph P. Halmi and his sister, Anne Halmi.

Visitation Friday, July 23rd 4 to 8 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, July 24th, 11:30 am, St. Gabriel's RC Church, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bob's family to help offset unexpected expenses.
