Mr. Robert J. Hewitson, of Belmar, died on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old. Bob was a service manager for Sherman Buick and Cadillac in Asbury Park and Managed the Belmar Marina before retiring from the Monmouth County Reclamation Center in Tinton Falls. A lifelong resident of Neptune City, Bob served on the Neptune City Borough Council and the Board of Education. He was a baseball coach in the Neptune City Little League and an avid NY Giants Fan. Bob was an Army veteran who served in Japan as a Technical Sergeant and Cartographer.

Bob is predeceased by his wife, Margery (Walheim), and his son, Bobby. He is survived by his daughter, Christine Jane Henn and her husband Thomas of PA; his daughter, Lois Ann McErlean and her husband Robert of Wall and his son, Ray Harold Hewitson and his wife Rosemary of Washington State, and 8 grandchildren, Patrick McErlean, Karen McErlean, Clayton Hewitson, Jessica Hewitson, Christopher Hewitson, Randi Hewitson, Kevin McErlean and Sean McErlean. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Savoth of Ocean Twp.; his long time special friend, Inge Schillings of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as "UB."

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, April 21 at 11:00AM at Ely Funeral Home, 3316 State Highway 33, Neptune. Interment will follow at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belmar First Aid Squad, PO Box 636, Belmar NJ 07719, would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Reilly-Bonner Funeral Home, 891 D Street, Belmar NJ.
