ROBERT "BOB" L. MACKEY
AGE: 72
FORMERLY OF MILLTOWN
Robert "Bob" L. Mackey, of Howell, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was 72 years old. Born in New Brunswick, he lived most of his life in Milltown, then moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and more recently to Howell. He had worked for the N.J. Turnpike Authority until 1960 and then worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 33 years. He retired in 1993. Bob built and flew model planes all his life. He was a charter member and member of the Tri-County Radio Control Club for 43 years. He served as president several terms. He was also a member of the Jersey Coast Radio Control Club. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially the N.Y. Giants. He had been a Youth Basketball coach in the 1960's. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Church in Milltown, where he had served as a deacon.
Predeceased by his parents, the late Lewis and Constance (Schumacher) Mackey, two aunts and one uncle, he is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce (Sinko); an aunt, Joye Blain of Thatcher, Ariz; two cousins, and many wonderful friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the funeral home. Interment in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Memorial contributions to St. Paul's Church, 62 S. I 'm so sorry for your loss Joyce . His passing is a great loss to every one who knew him ,also to the hobby of model airplanes , building and flying. Bob and i learned to fly , back in 1970 and we got the Middlesex county parks dept to give the Tri- County R.C Club a flying sight for many years .I have many memories and he will be in my thoughts and prayers.

my late father and bob worked together in the milltown post office( my father was there 32 years retired in 1985)

bob was a quiet man but very nice to me and my parents

my prayers and thoughts are with the family
