Mr Shamy has been a part of my life since my 2nd, maybe 3rd grade of school. That carried on to my High School years, and until this very day. I can not say enough about how very much influence he had on my life. Much love to the family he left behind. And, I also know how very much he loved that dog.
He will be missed by MANY.....
Be well,
Tami

My most sincere condolences to Bob's family. I had the honor of being his friend and colleague for 24 years at Monroe H.S. He cared deeply for his students and demonstrated a passion for learning and sharing his knowledge with his students. His wonderful sense of humor is something I really loved about him. I know that he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Rest in peace, my friend, rest in peace.-HAROLD HEINZ

Shocked and saddened when I heard of Bob s passing. My thoughts are with Debbie, Liam and Cullen. Bob was a great person who new how to get the best out of those he worked with. Knowing Bob made a difference in my life and I am sure I am not the only person that will say or think that way about him. I will always have great memories of the work we did together which was always fun and meaningful. Love and peace to a wonderful man. Matt DeFilippis MTHS

Mr. Robert Shamy's legacy will carry on through the generations of students he taught. We all benefited from his quiet, positive approach to life and all of the complications that it brought with it; most of it of our own doing. He showed us how to live and let live every day, whether as rambunctious students at Monroe Township School #3 (Woodlands to our younger members) or as high school students at MTHS who always looked forward to his class. Im pretty sure he's already playing some Neal Young stuff with St. Peter. Rest In Peace Mr. Shamy. (MTHS Class of 1978 Yearbook photo of Mr. Shamy).

Though I'm 51 years old he will always be "Mr. Shamy" to me. High school was not a pleasant experience for me and Mr. Shamy was among the handful of teachers who taught me that there was more in the world beyond my small town. But most of all I came away from high school with an open mind and humility thanks to him.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing and extend our sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy to Debbie, Liam, and Cullen at this sad and difficult time. Bob Shamy was an excellent and dedicated teacher, scholar, world traveler, musician, family man, colleague, and friend...a true Renaissance man. We shall carry fond memories of him and are grateful for having known him.
