Ronald Cerrito Obituary

Ronald A. Cerrito

AGE: 70 • Monroe Township

RONALD A. CERRITO died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his residence in Monroe. He was 70.

Born in Manhattan, Ron grew up in Saddle Brook, NJ, before moving to Monroe Township in 1978.

Ron was a graduate of Trenton State College and a member of Theta Nu Sigma fraternity. According to his brothers, Ron is a legend. The friendships he created with his fraternity brothers lasted his entire life. The brothers' creed still rings true: "Ecce' quambonum et quam incundum habitare frates in inum" - Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity.

For 32 years he worked in the East Brunswick School District. He was a special teacher known for his sense of humor and being an everyday advocate for children, instilling in them a love of learning math. Ron was a wrestling coach in the township for 17 years. He touched many young lives and kept in touch with several former students. Columbus Day was always a personal holiday.

After he retired, he worked at Ameripack in Robbinsville. Ron loved riding his Harley and had many memory-making adventures with his wife, Marianne. The gardens and park-like atmosphere surrounding their home reflects his talent and love of gardening. Fly fishing became his passion over thirty years ago. He valued and enjoyed any time he could spend on rivers, alone with Marianne, or with his friends. Colorado and Montana were two of his favorite places to fish - always catch and release.

He was a member of St. Mary's of Ostrabrama Church in South River.

Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years, Marianne; sisters, Geraldine Drummond and Louise Ann Cerrito, both of Eagle Lake, FL; and nieces, Cheri Day and Nicole Boyer, all whom he cherished deeply.

Ron was the beloved brother-in-law to Al, Henry, Ray, John and Ed. As an uncle and great-uncle, he was idolized by his thirteen nephews and nieces, and nineteen great-nephews and nieces.

Ron was a generous and loving husband, brother, mentor, and loyal friend. Ron's knack for telling stories and making you laugh will never be forgotten. He was always the life of the party. He will be missed by many.

Friends may call at The Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick on Wednesday, May 31, in the afternoon from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and in the evening from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm; the service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Ron had a special respect for veterans because he did not serve in any wars. Memorial contributions may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Rd., Suite 100, Silver Springs, Maryland 20910, www.vva.org.

Marianne, I am so sorry to hear this news of Ronnie's passing. What a wonderful man...leaving us way too soon. My condolences are totally inadequate to provide comfort to you at this time. Yours was a great great love...so obvious to all who met you and Ronnie. Perhaps the only comfort is that the two of you enjoyed a marriage made in Heaven....very rare and very special. Soulmates.

Mrs. Cerrito, you were my teacher in 9th grade and Mr. Cerrito I had in 8th (mid 1980's) You were both in my all time favorite, most memorable and impactful teachers list and I think of you both often.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He made learning fun, I still remember the math rhymes he would say. I think I loved math because of his class. He was an all around great guy who made his students feel comfortable and he easily related to us. May God bless him and bring you peace in all the memories of him you are bound to hear over the next few days..

I am so sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing. We worked together at HMS for many years and I will never forget his wonderful sense of humor. He was my son's wrestling coach and my daughter's favorite teacher. He was a very special guy and will be missed by all who knew him.

May God bless Ron and grant Marianne peace of mind.

With deepest sympathy,

Marianne, so sorry to read of Ron's passing. He should Rest In Peace. He brought fun to the workplace and knew how to make people laugh.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Ron's passing, my condolences go out to his wife and family.
Ron and I sat next to each other when we studied the accordion and had many laughs when we were in the third grade. Later at about 13 years old, we played Pony League Baseball together for a few years.
The last time I saw him was at one of our Saddle Brook High School reunions.
He was one of the good ones
