Ronald Muir Obituary

Ronald H Muir

Carbondale - Ronald H. Muir, 71, Carbondale, died Saturday upon arrival at Geisinger CMC. His wife is Dorothy (Karas) Castle Muir.

Born in Scranton, son of Darwin H. and DeSales Kathryn Rosler Muir, he was head of security of Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City and retired from SCI Waymart. Ron was a Navy Vietnam veteran who served on the USS Ozborn BT—3. He took great pride in his country and his flag. It is very fitting that Ron left this world on one of his favorite days, July 4th.

Ron was an avid sports fan. He loved the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, where he rarely missed a home game. He also followed the New York Yankees and New York Jets. He was a member of American Legion Post 465 and Mason's Harmony Lodge 18, Toms River, NJ. He took great pride in his train and coin collections. He also looked forward to his daily visit with coffee buddies at McDonald's. Time spent with his family was something that always brought him joy. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: sons, Paul (Alida) Muir, Va. Beach; Fred (Trisha) Castle, Carbondale; two daughters, Doreen Kuttrubis, Simpson; Tammy (Bill) Fives, Scott Twp.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two brothers, Darwin (Lee) Muir, Waymart; Jimmy (Jean) Muir, Carbondale; two sisters, Darlene (Johnny) Domiano, Lake Harbor NJ; Bonita Milligan, Lanoka Harbor NJ, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima, Carbondale. Friends are invited to attend the mass. Due to the current public health recommendations, masks and social distancing are required.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family, Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Disabled American Veterans.

Very belated condolences to Ron´s family, especially his son, Paul (whom I had reached out to in 2023, NOT knowing if his dad´s passing!)
I knew Lt Ron, also, at Tropicana Casino in AC, NJ [grave shift]. He took me under "his wing" when I first started in Security, working in the hotel areas, till my Casino Control license came through.
Under Lt Ron´s tutelage, he introduced me to his "other trusted people", whom also, taught me other various parts of the industry. Ron and I became pretty close, especially after he had found out that I too served in the Navy as a Corpsman. Here it is Mar 2024, and, I got a "remembrance from Google", totally forgetting to have sent my condolences... so sorry, Paul and family!!! ers!!
