Rose Cella Obituary

Rose Marie Cella

Shark River Hills

Rose Marie Cella "Nanny," beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, of Shark River Hills, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at JSUMC, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born and raised in Newark, NJ to Anthony & Margaret (Miele) Luongo. She graduated West Side HS and met the love of her life, John, at the Continental Ball Room in 1948. Rose and John just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on October 17, 2012. From Newark, they moved to Cranford, NJ, where they raised their family and spent summers at their home in Lake Como. They retired to Shark River Hills in 1990. Rose was the President of the Belmar Women's Club, member of the St. Rose Rosarian Society, the Prime Timers, and a card player at Avon Recreational Center. Rose volunteered as a school lunch aide at St. Rose Grammar School for many years, she loved baking, and she was a "second grandmother" to many of her grandchildren's friends. But her happiest times were those spent with her loving family. Rose was beautiful, kind, and loved by all who knew her.

She leaves behind those who mourn her - her beloved husband, John; son, John M. III & wife Jan of Wall; daughter, Margaret Ann "Margie" Grasso & husband John of Neptune City; son, Anthony & wife Chris of Middletown; brother, Patrick Luongo & wife Tu of Florida; and her precious grandchildren, Chelsea Lee & fiancé Brian, Mikey, Anthony, and Lisa; and her grand-pets, Roxie, Skrappy Doo, and Gypsy Rose.

Visitation will be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, on Sunday from 1-5pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, on Monday at 10am, with burial to follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jersey Shore University Medical Center - Cardiology Dept., 1945 Hwy. 33, Neptune, NJ 07753. For more information, visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
