Siegfried "Fritz" A. Honauer, 69, of Brick Township passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Philadelphia, PA. with his devoted family at his bedside.

Fritz was born in Germany and had resided in Brick Township for the past 30 years. He was a well-known, hard-working restaurateur around the Jersey Shore, initially owning and operating On the Fritz Bar and Grill and more recently Fritzy's German Restaurant, both in Howell Twp.

Fritz was an avid horseman, owning and training standardbred horses for many years. He will always be remembered for loving his horses because unlike people, they never talked back. That was just one of Fritz's joking remarks, reminding us always that his sense of humor was his best personality trait. He would always light up a room with a joke or a wise remark, no matter the situation.

Despite all of Fritz's outside interests, the most important aspect of his life was his large devoted family. He deeply cared about his family and would always be seen putting family above all else.

He is survived by his devoted wife Jeanne (nee Carroll) Honauer, his parents Joseph and Rita (nee Schmidt) Honauer of Manasquan, his children Nikki Honauer of Cranston, RI., Michelle Honauer and husband Alberto Santos of Spring Lake Heights, Joseph and Michelle V. Honauer of Freehold, Ian Honauer of Spring Lake Heights, their mother Ruth Honauer, and his step children David Henning and wife Marcia of Acworth, GA. and Nicki Altenau and husband Marc of Neptune City, and his 5 cherished grandchildren Jack, Regan, Daemion, Deavin, and Sebastien.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00am at the Church of St. Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Rd., Point Pleasant, NJ 08742. Please go directly to the Church on Saturday as there will not be a procession from the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN. 38105. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Friday.
