I've had the pleasure of living next door to Steve and his family for the last 15 years. I didn't know much about his work or early life and it has been great to see how many people had wonderful interactions with him and to know how many people will miss him. I will really miss frequently running into Steve in our driveways passing to and from our cars or putting in our gardens. Multiple times a week he'd give a pleasant greeting and we'd have a quick chat about whether we were busy at work or what the kids or our families were up to or what restaurant we'd had a good meal in lately. His family, especially his children, had so many wonderful things to say at his funeral, and Steve would have been so proud of their amazing eulogies. He is at final rest in a very beautiful setting and will be missed forever.

My sincere condolences to the entire Sugarman Family. I worked with Steve over the past couple of years on several projects. We finally met in Dallas last year which was a sincere pleasure after only being on the phone with him in the past. What a compassionate, sincere, hard-working focused, and exceptional person! It was evident how much he enjoyed life and loved his family. It was a pleasure knowing him. Always, always cherish the priceless incredible memories you have of Steve. May peace and grace be upon him.

I am so sorry to hear the news about Steve. My sincere condolences to the Sugarman family. Steve and I had lunch in June at one of his favorite restaurants - Casa Vasca in Newark. He spoke glowingly of his family - I could tell he was very proud of his son and daughter. It was raining that day and he made sure I was under his umbrella - actually was getting hit with rain to keep me dry...I only got to know him over the past six months due to a work assignment and thoroughly enjoyed working with him - became an instant favorite of mine, so to speak. He had a zest for life - that is for sure. My sincere condolences to his entire family.

I worked with Steve for the past few years. Steve and I had many wonderful meals in Chicago together where family and life were discussed before work. What I enjoyed most was his ability to connect and provide guidance on so many levels. He was an exceptional man and I will miss him greatly.

Such a loving father, & happy go lucky guy...We will miss his fun- loving spirit and ability to always make me smile at the crazy rigors of parenthood. Steve & I shared many laughs (and an eye roll or two) at the music concerts & plays over the years and then when the girls finally started playing beautiful music we shared our pride and amazement at how far they had come from those early years. He was always so proud & supportive of everything Alyssa was involved in and I loved that about him. His upbeat attitude and easy going nature always gave me perspective. I am a big fan of his and the beautiful family he loved so dearly. He will be missed but his spirit remains with all of us. We are so grateful to have known him. Sending love and support to Maryann, Michael & Alyssa.

Steve loved life, his wife and family. He spoke of family vacations at the beach and possibly heading to Port Aransas in Texas with the Tulsa based family. I was blessed to meet and work with Steve. God Bless your family.
