Thomas S. "Jake" Jacobs, 60, of New Brunswick died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his mother, Elsie H. Jacobs of New Brunswick; his daughters, Jennifer Jacobs of Ferndale, MI, Lauren Jacobs of Sacramento CA, and Amanda Jacobs of Lansdale, PA and a son, James Jacobs of Royersford, PA; his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and John Musial of Hillsborough and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Nandor Jacobs.

He was a graduate of New Brunswick High School and had worked at AT&T for 20 years, followed by Middlesex Container, Temple Inland and Schiffenhaus Corporation and Saturn of Green Brook. Jake, as he was called by many, was an avid and excellent golfer and was the New Brunswick High School golf team captain. Later he held a two handicap which helped him to achieve the 1979 New Jersey State Golf Association 4 Ball Championship with a best round of 68 including 6 birdies. Earlier he excelled in swimming and diving on the Raritan Valley YMCA Swim team. He took up bowling and bowled in many leagues, especially at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick. He rolled three sanctioned 300 games. He developed a knack for creating many culinary delights at a number of barbeques for the golf league and at his sister's house. He spent many summers with his children, mother and sister and her family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in Kill Devil Hills, golfing, cooking and swimming.

Cremation and services are private. Funeral arrangements are by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.
