Thomas Ogle Obituary
Spotswood - Thomas Joseph Ogle passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021, at NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park, NJ. He was 86.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in North Brunswick before he and his wife Mary Jean settled in Spotswood in 1967, where they raised four children.
Thomas served in the US Navy, 1952-1956, surviving the devastating explosions on the USS Bennington, off the coast of Rhode Island. He retired from Personal Products, a division of Johnson & Johnson, in Milltown, in 1991 after 33 years of service. In his retirement he drove the Milltown Senior Bus for 15 years.
He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Right to Life, Knights of Columbus Council 4907, and the Quarter Century Club of J&J. He was a volunteer at St. Peter's Wednesday Night Suppers. He was active with the Spotswood Senior Club and Office of Aging and filled in as a substitute driver of the Spotswood Senior Bus.
Thomas was predeceased by his father, Thomas, and mother, Catherine (Craddock) Ogle; his brothers, Jonathan and Henry Ogle; and his granddaughter, Julia Marie Matuschat.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Jean (Holleran); his daughters, Kathleen of Bridgewater and Mary Margaret of Point Pleasant; his sons, Michael and his wife Karin of Westerly, RI, Christopher and his partner, Geordie Jimenez of Los Angeles; his sisters, Catherine Farkas of East Brunswick and Geraldine Patricia Ogle of North Brunswick; his grandsons, Colin, Jackson and Bryan; his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 18 South Street, Spotswood, NJ 08884, and Alice's CUP Food Pantry, 455 Main Street, Spotswood, NJ 08884.
His family is grateful to the Healthcare Heroes - the nurses, aides, social workers, therapists, and all the staff at Menlo Park Veterans Home - who cared for him in his last years.
