Spotswood - Vernon H. Lohr died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 91. Vernon was born in and a lifelong resident of Spotswood. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was lab assistant at DuPont in Parlin, where he worked for 43 years. Vernon actively served for 61 years as a volunteer firefighter and was past Chief of the Spotswood Fire Department. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of South River and the East Brunswick Sportsman's Club. Vernon was U.S. Army veteran.

He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Erma Lohr, as well as two brothers, John (Bucky) and Norman (Chippy). Surviving are two sons, Ralph and his wife, Patti, of North Aurora, IL and Arthur and his wife, Bonnie, of Hightstown, NJ; his brother, Harvey Lohr, of Spotswood; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Bob Mc Enaney, of New Bern, NC, and sister-in-law, Elaine Lohr, also of Spotswood, plus one grandchild, Kristen Lohr of Geneva, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 3/19, at 10:00 AM in The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
