William J. Carroll, Sr.

William J. Carroll, Sr. died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at home. He was 89. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Roselle Park before moving to East Brunswick in 2007. William was a Sergeant with the New York City Police Department in Manhattan, NY for 35 years. After retiring, he was assistant security director for the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and served from 1944 to 1946.

William was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Magee, in 2003. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Rosemary Whitbread Carroll; five sons, Kevin of Loxahatchee, FL, William Jr. and his wife Michele, of Roselle Park, Paul Carroll and Phyllis Scimeme of Manalapan, Christopher and his wife, Elizabeth, of Medford Lakes, and Thomas and his wife, Christine, of East Brunswick; three daughters, Rosemary Chimento and her husband, John, of East Brunswick, Diane Carroll and Ted David of Ramsey and Laura Carroll of Greenbrook; two brothers, Daniel and John, both of New York; a sister, Josephine Van Dyk, of Staten Island, NY; 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 8:45AM in The Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church, East Brunswick. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-9 PM.
