WILLIAM J. COMAN SR.
AGE: 91 SOUTH AMBOY
William J. Coman, Sr., 91, of South Amboy died Sunday November 21, 2010 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in South Amboy, he lived there all of his life. Before retiring in 1981, he was employed as a mechanical engineer in the photo products division of E.I. DuPont & Co., Parlin for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy where he served as a eucharistic minister, lector and member and past president of the parish council. He was a member and past grand knight of Knights of Columbus Council 426, South Amboy. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was also a member of VFW Post 4699, Sayreville. He was a Grand Marshall of the South Amboy St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1986. He also attended Rutgers University.
Son of the late William and Helena Coman, he was also predeceased by his wife, Madeline Crummy Coman who died in 2008, a brother, John F. Coman, a sister, Mary Leahy, a granddaughter, Brenna Coman and a great grandson, Michael Tedesco. Surviving are 2 sons and daughters in law, William J. Jr. and Susan Coman of Marietta, Georgia and Kevin M. and Julie Coman of Point Pleasant; his daughter and son in law, Susan and Michael Tedesco of Point Pleasant; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Philion of Cherry Hill and Helen Dodd of Winter Park, Florida; 8 grandchildren,Christopher Tedesco and his wife, Amelia,Amy Tedesco and her friend, Kim Vignola, Courtney, Tierney, Delaney, Keely, Tara and William Kyle Coman and 2 great grandchildren, Christopher Steven and Cassandra Tedesco.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.
